The "Autobiography" was written at the time when Prlichev was a teacher at the Thessaloniki Macedonian Boys' Gymnasium, and it was first published in 1894, in the "Collection of Folk Thoughts, Science and Literature" of the Ministry of Public Enlightenment in Sofia. Although Prlichev has been working on his autobiography for more than a year, the biography is short - it covers almost sixty pages. In some cases, entire periods of the author's life are expressed in just a few sentences.
The publication is required reading for the ninth grade.
