Obradović's collection contains a large number of classic fables, such as: "The Shot Eagle", "Deer", "The Lion and the Man", "The Child and Happiness", "The Old Man and the Gold", etc.

The question of the sources of Dositej Obradović's fables is complex even today, but according to some comparisons, it is considered that the fables originate from Aesop's fables. Compared to the original Aesop's fables, the versions written by Obradović are more narrative, richer in details, more conversational and with more practical lessons. Obradovic pointed out the lessons in the fables and explained them in detail to his readers, with the desire to teach them.
