The work tells the story of the young adventurer Arthur Pym, who willfully boards the ship Grampus and sets sail with an unknown crew. Suddenly, there is a mutiny among the crew, so Pym is forced to spend the first four days sheltering in the basement of the ship, His friend August is the only acquaintance of the crew, while August's father was the overthrown captain. Under an incredible set of circumstances, in the end only Gordon Pym and one of the sailors, Dirk Peters, remained alive. When it seemed that they too would die of hunger, a research expedition happened to pass by, which proved to be a lifesaver for them. Arthur Pym and Peters joined the expedition that was trying to reach the farthest point of the South Pole. The story ends unclearly while the whole team was searching for the intended goal.
