This is a realistic, psychological novel with elements of a social, criminal and philosophical novel.
The theme and idea of the novel is contained in the title, the theme is the crime, the double murder that Raskolnikov commits and the punishment that follows (more psychological than physical). Psychological punishment also includes the idea - that man punishes and tortures himself more than he can punish society. Also, that there is no justification for murder, because everyone's life is valuable. The action in the novel takes place during nine days before and after the crime, as well as a year after it.
The publication is a reading for the third year of secondary education.
