Economic difficulties were Dickens' inspiration for his best novels (Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, Hard Times) which cover deep themes and critique of the society of the time. Thanks to the received inheritance, the future writer left the factory where he worked and began to study. At the age of 17 he was already writing for newspapers, and in 1836 he published a novel in weekly episodes, Oliver Twist, in which the cruel and difficult life of the poorest was depicted. He achieved great success.
